We wanted to give the box of Malteasers at the back some height. To raise the product and fill the void underneath, we used a foam brick from the Basket Extras department. Wrap in a sheet of newsprint paper, or better still, in some co-ordinating gift wrap. The foam brick makes a great 'step' for other items too. |
Wrap the foam brick and place in the basket. |
If you need it higher, just cut the foam into smaller pieces and stack. |
Start placing your items in the basket and decide how you want them to be displayed. We want to see the Malteasers and need to raise them up, but don't want to use more foam.
This time we're using bamboo skewers. The are easy to hold in place using a little sellotape, but please be aware they are sharp.
Push the skewers attached to the box into the foam bricks. This will stabilise the box and give it more height. Just leave a gap big enough to raise the product up. |
Place more items into your basket and add a little packing shred to co-ordinate your products and give some texture and colour. Approximately 70g per small hamper should be enough if you use a void fill or have more products. If not you may need more. |
Pop in any little extras like honey twirlers. Add a little enhancement such as a couple of inches of ribbon tied into a simple bow for a splash of colour. Check you're happy with the positioning of the products and they are secure. Look at the overall height too to make sure that they are evenly placed. |
We want to keep adding to the theme and this one is for Christmas. We've used an Artificial Ivy Vine. |
Take the length of Ivy and weave it round your products. Add some Christmas baubles or pine cones. |
Open a shrink wrap basket bag (this is a small hamper 75-8351 and needs a size 5 Dome) and place the basket in the base. Make sure all the corners of the basket are in the bag properly and gently pull the bag upwards. Be careful not to disturb your products. |
Your basket should look like this now. Again, make final adjustments as you will be sealing it next. |
Gather the basket bag at the top centre of the lid and tie with some ribbon or raffia. Try not to have too many pleats across the front as it will obsure the view and won't look as neat when it shrinks. |
At this stage the bag will still be quite baggy. To shrink the bag you just need a hairdryer. |

Start at the back first to anchor the bag to the basket. Using a hairdryer heat the bag gently, going over the corners and edges. Keep the hairdryer moving so it doesn't get too hot in one place too quickly or you will melt a hole in the bag. |

You can see the bag has shrunk on the back of the basket. |

Then move on to the sides then the base. You'll see it quickly becomes taut and gives a lovely clean look. |

When you've finished shrinking the back, sides and base you can move to the presentation side. This will already be fairly tight by now, but that final shrink across the top will give a professional look. Again, gently go over the whole area, catching the edges of the items in your hamper. This will help keep them in place when you've finished. |

At this point only the right hand side has been shrunk. You can see how it is now clinging to the Fudges box and the top corner of the Malteasers. However, the items on the left can still move.

The front is finished and all the shrinking is over. The products are untouchable but clearly visible. |

You should be able to turn it upside down without anything moving! Great it you need to post it!

All that's left is to add a co-ordinatiing pull bow. Voila! |
